O apelo
No Guardian:
Vitoria Setubal fans have appealed to Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho for financial help after players at the Portuguese club, who say they have not been paid since August, threatened to cancel their contracts.
A source from Portugal's soccer players' union said all 23 Setubal players have given the financially troubled club until Thursday to respond to their demands to receive their wages.
Fans of the Portuguese Cup winners want Mourinho to enter the dispute because he comes from Setubal, which is about 50-km south of Lisbon.
"Mourinho, Vitoria needs you," read banners during the league defeat by Vitoria Guimaraes on Sunday.
Mourinho, who led Chelsea to the Premier League title in his first year at billionaire Roman Abromovich's club, has not responded to the appeal.(...)
Local media has reported recently that Abramovich could be interested in helping Setubal because of influence from Mourinho.
