"Eight games, eight victories, 18 goals. It is time to respect Chelsea Football Club and my players. They deserve more respect," he said.

"They do not get it; you can read the papers or listen to the radio. Nobody gives us the respect we deserve. Last season, we beat almost every record but big personalities have responsibilities and it is a pity Johan Cruyff was not here to see this.

"We are not saying we are the best team; we are saying we are a very good team. We have everything a club should have to be successful - organisation, attacking qualities, great individual players and creativity. We are not perfect but we are very good and we deserve more respect."
